Topic: A Friend in the Hospital
Lucy: Hey, Sarah. How are you doing?
Sarah: Not too good. I was in a car accident yesterday.
Lucy: What happened? Are you hurt?
Sarah: Yeah, I broke my leg and dislocated my shoulder. They had to do emergency surgery last night.
Lucy: That sounds painful. What about your friend who was driving?
Sarah: She’s okay, just a few cuts and bruises. But her car got totaled by the hit-and-run driver. The police are involved now.
Lucy: That’s terrible. Have they caught the driver yet?
Sarah: Not yet, but they’re looking for a black SUV with a damaged front end. Anyway, I could use your help right now. Would you visit me in the hospital and bring me some magazines?
Lucy: Of course! Which hospital are you in?
Sarah: St. Mary’s. Room 412. Thanks so much, Lucy. You’re a true friend.
Mike: Hi, Lisa. I heard from John that you were in a car accident. How are you feeling?
Lisa: Hey, Mike. Yeah, it was pretty scary. I injured my leg and had to have surgery.
Mike: So sorry to hear that. That sounds painful.
Lisa: Yeah, it is sore right now. But the painkillers help.
Mike: Do you need anything while you’re here? Can I bring you some magazines or snacks?
Lisa: That’s kind of you, but no thanks. They’ve been taking good care of me.
Mike: What happened exactly? Did they catch the driver who hit you?
Lisa: Unfortunately, it was a hit-and-run. My car was wrecked, too.
Mike: Oh no! Have the police been involved?
Lisa: Yeah, they’re investigating. It’s been stressful dealing with all the paperwork and stuff.
Mike: Is there any way we can help you out? We could set up a meal schedule for when you get home or something.
Lisa: Thanks, Mike. That would be helpful.
Nurse: Sorry to interrupt, but today’s visiting hours are almost over.
Mike: Sure thing. Let us know if there’s anything else you need, Lisa.
Lisa: Thank you. You guys are great friends.
