Topic: Visiting Family

Dialogue 1

Emily: Hi, Dad! It’s so good to see you.
Dad: Hi, Emily. Welcome home. How was your flight?
Emily: Long as usual, but OK. Thanks for picking me up from the airport.
Dad: No problem at all. Your mom and grandparents are looking forward to seeing you.
Emily: Great. I miss them all so much. And how’s my aunt Carol? Did she recover from her surgery?
Dad: Yes, thankfully, it went well. She’s still recovering but seems to be doing better every day.
Emily: That’s a relief. I hope I can see her soon too. And what about my nephews? Are they around?
Dad: Yes, they’re staying with us this weekend. They’ll be thrilled to see their favorite cousin!
Emily: Aw, that’s so sweet. I’ve missed them loads. What do you have planned for today?
Dad: We’re just having a quiet family meal tonight. But tomorrow, we’re all going out on a family outing. Mom hasn’t decided where yet.
Emily: Sounds like fun either way. I can’t wait. Hey, do you mind stopping by the supermarket quickly- I need to grab a couple of things before we reach home.
Dad: Sure, no worries. You must be tired. Let’s get going first.

Dialogue 2

Alice: Hi, Mum! I’m here!
Mum: Oh, Alice darling! You’re finally here. How was your journey?
Alice: It was OK. It’s a bit long and tiring, but seeing you guys is worth it.
Dad: So good to see you, sweetie. Please hug us!
Alice: Hey, Dad! I missed you both so much!
Grandma: Look who’s here! Our little girl has grown up so much! Kiss me.
Alice: Grandma! You look lovely today. Is Grandpa around too?
Grandma: He’s in the garage working on his car as usual. But we’ll have dinner together later.
Uncle Jack: Hi, Alice!
Alice: Uncle Jack! How are you doing?
Aunt Sarah: Hello, dear! Long time no see!
Alice: Aunt Sarah, hi! Yes, it’s been ages since I last saw you guys. Where are my nephews and cousins? Are they all hiding from me?
Uncle Jack: They’re playing hide-and-seek in the garden. Why don’t you join them?
Alice: Great idea! I can’t wait to catch them all!
Later…
Mum: Dinner is served, everyone! Come sit down, Alice—your favorite roast chicken with mashed potatoes, just like when you were little.
Alice: Aw, thanks, Mum! This looks amazing. What are we having for dessert?
Grandma: Apple pie, of course! It’s your granddad’s recipe.
Alice: Yummy! Family meals are always the best.
Dad: Tomorrow, we’re planning a family outing to the countryside. We’ll go for a picnic and take a nice walk.
Alice: Sounds excellent! I can’t wait to spend quality time with you all.
